This kit includes the raw materials needed to make these earrings (in any length up to 4-1/2 in. long!), and full-color, easy-to-follow instructions with more than 24 crisp, clear photos. Additional basic tools are required, so be sure to check out the longer description, below, for a list of everything you need—if you've done any metalwork before, you'll likely have most of these on hand. Additional Tools & Materials Needed
  • Abrasive paper
  • Bud bur, approx. 1.78mm (opt.)
  • Dapping block with punches
  • Drill bits: #61, various sizes up to #50 (1.78mm)
  • Files: half-round hand or needle file
  • Fine-tip permanent marker
  • Flex shaft or rotary tool
  • Flush cutters rated for 14-gauge wire
  • Hammers/mallets: planishing, chasing (opt.), rawhide mallet
  • Liver of sulfur
  • Painter’s tape
  • Pliers: nylon-jaw pliers (opt.), roundnose, two pairs chainnose or flatnose
  • Pumice powder (opt.)
  • Scrap wood
  • Scribe
  • Snap-on sanding disc and mandrel, fine (optional)
  • Soldering setup (opt.): torch, cross-locking tweezers, third hand base (opt.), heat-proof work surface, flux, copper tongs, pickle in a pickle pot
